It seems a lot of people are afraid of dragons, real and imagined. As has been the recurring theme, some of the more resonant formulations of schools during this iteration of A/AA have been imagined by kids. What has come up on a number of occasions are schools related to dragons; hiding from them, meeting with them, attacking them, etc…
There’s work to do! For the adults working with A/AA this dragon theme held a lot of significance. Dragons, as a metaphor, for our fears, deamons, whathaveyou, are emotions which we often walk through and all too often don’t acknowledge or deal with. With this in mind the The Reading and Song School for Human and Dragon Peace and Reconciliation was developed. The intention, simply enough, is that the school serves as a site for humans and dragons to find common ground by reading and singing to one another.
We’re working through the details as to how one might represent Humans and Dragons, all in all, a pretty interesting conversation.
